Population Patterns

Lesson One covered the key question: What patterns exist in world population growth? You should be confident that you:
  • Understand how world population has grown;
  • Are able to describe future population projections;
  • Can compare and contrast trends in MEDW and LEDW population growth;
  • Understand the concepts of unders, over and optimum population.

Homework
Using P179-180 of A2 Geography, Geofactsheets 59 and 175 and the Places handout, do the following:
1. Explain what is meant by the terms overpopulation and underpopulation.
2. Name a country that is underpopulated. Outline why it is underpopulated, the consequences of this and how it has attempted to deal with this issue.
3. Name a country that is overpopulated. Outline why it is overpopulated, the consequences of this and how it has attempted to deal with this issue.

Welcome back to Year 13!
